I am just one of the nearly 15,000 people to be affected by Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) this debilitating, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder.
My hobby of succulent gardening includes:
- creating mini succulent gardens
- collecting succulent specimens
- creating concrete succulent planters
- learning and reading about succulent plants
- creating succulent arrangements
- I have an ETSY store to create funds for research and to grow awareness to Friedreich's ataxia (FA).
The succulents allow us all to commune with nature which is good for us all. The representation of the tiny succulent growing into a healthy, flourishing specimen connects us with ideas and things that are greater then ourselves.
As a result of great advancements to understand the cause of friedreich's ataxia, new treatments are now emerging. These treatments address the causes of FA such as gene mutation, frataxin production, iron sulfur clusters, and mitochondrial function.
FARA is funding research to find treatments and a cure to friedreich's ataxia.
A full listing of treatment initiatives can be viewed on FARA's website.
The age of information and communication is NOW. Over 7 billion Humans are able to connect with their ideas, thoughts, and opinions. The scientists and engineers of tomorrow can now effectively confer with colleagues, develop theories, collect data, and arrive at a better understanding of friedreich's ataxia.
